Dietetics

Dietetic therapy is based essentially on long-acquired experience of using raw vegetables – which have enormous energetic value.

Experience has proven that food therapy based on raw fruits or raw vegetables and fruit or vegetable juices, when systematically carried out, is extremely efficient therapeutically. Nobody applies this therapy as we do.

The  Bircher-Müesli is one of the many wonderful recipes of Bircher-Benner cooking, which have proven so beneficial for world food habits.

Recipe for Birchermuesli

Dr.med. Maximilian Bircher-Benner originally called his diet apple dish "Spys". Soon it gained the vernacular name "Bircher muesli". Today, Bircher muesli is world-renowned.

The original Bircher muesli, as introducd for the first time by Dr. Maximilian Bircher-Benner, has remained the tried and tested and best diet food based on many years of experience. In 1926, Dr. Maximilian Bircher-Benner developed the original Dr. Bircherraffel (the Bircher grater) for grating the apples.

Bircher muesli: with almond or sesame puree for one person:

1 tbp (8g) oats
3 tbsp water
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp almond or sesame puree (Nuxo or organic almond puree)
1 tbsp honey
200g apples
1 tbsp hazelnuts or almonds, grated.

Soak the oats for 12 hours. Using a whisk, combine the lemon juice, puree, water and honey to a creamy consistency, add the oats and grate the apple direct into the mixture using the Bircher grater  while frequently stirring so that the Bircher muesli remains appetizingly white. Sprinkle the nuts over the top and serve immediately- never leave to sit
